Competencies/Credentials
  • Basic geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to machine part from blueprint (manual or CNC)
  • Manual: Execute machining of parts, set appropriate feeds and speeds.
  • CNC: Use G-code or conversational controls to edit existing program for machining of the part, including feeds and speeds; start machining process; execute program
  • Adjust process to achieve tolerances and finishes on the blueprint
  • Inspect parts to verify tolerances and specifications are met
  • Technical competencies as demonstrated by the following NIMS credentials: Grinding I; Turning I (Between Centers and Chucking); Milling I; CNC Mill Operations; CNC Lathe Operations; Drill Press I
