Competencies/Credentials
- Basic geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to machine part from blueprint (manual or CNC)
- Manual: Execute machining of parts, set appropriate feeds and speeds.
- CNC: Use G-code or conversational controls to edit existing program for machining of the part, including feeds and speeds; start machining process; execute program
- Adjust process to achieve tolerances and finishes on the blueprint
- Inspect parts to verify tolerances and specifications are met
- Technical competencies as demonstrated by the following NIMS credentials: Grinding I; Turning I (Between Centers and Chucking); Milling I; CNC Mill Operations; CNC Lathe Operations; Drill Press I
Foundational employability skills, basic math and computer skills, written and verbal communication skills; safety awareness; drug free
